Below you will find safety and security recommendations, as well as the Emergency Response Plan for the event. Please take a moment to review and familiarize yourself with this information in advance of the event and share it with any of your staff who will be on-site at the event.

Safety Information

Event Management works diligently with the facility to ensure the safety and security of all sponsors, attendees, and the event. If you have any security concerns leading up to the event or on-site, please bring them to the attention of Event Management.
All persons attending the event must wear a badge. This includes during move-in, event hours, and move-out.
Sponsors are asked to take precautions with items at their 1-to-1 tables. Although the doors of the meeting rooms will be locked at the end of each event day, safeguard personal property and belongings and at the end of each day, pack up and take with you anything of value.
Event Management and Security will "sweep" the rooms at the close of the event each day to clear them of all visitors and personnel. Only sponsor personnel who have requested special permission will be allowed in the 1-to1 room after closing.
Report any missing items or damage to Event Management or Security as soon as noticed.
Notify Event Management or Security immediately if you notice any safety hazards or witness anyone being injured anywhere in the building or nearby outside spaces.
Be aware and be prepared. When you leave the facility at the end of the day, remove your badge and have all emergency numbers saved into your phone. Be aware of your surroundings and take caution, especially in the evenings. Travel in pairs or call a cab.
Lost & Found articles may be turned in or claimed at Registration during event days. After the event contact the hotel’s Security Department.

Smart Energy Decisions Emergency Response Plan

The purpose of the Smart Energy Decisions Emergency Response Plan is to provide guidelines to prepare for potential crisis or emergency situations. The JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort Emergency Protocol

EMERGENCIES: JW Marriott Starr Pass considers your safety and security to be paramount. Our security department is staffed 24 hours a day and we randomly patrol the property. Please dial “At Your Service” Department at extension (0) with any questions or concerns. Security officers are trained to respond to all types of emergency situations. They are CPR and First Aid certified. FIRE SAFETY: The resort complies with all local/state fire codes. The fire alarm system is designed to monitor all areas of the resort and alarms are signaled in sections. The entire resort may not go into alarm if an emergency occurs in one particular area. There are smoke detectors in every guest room and in public areas. Sprinklers are installed in guestrooms, guestroom corridors, meeting rooms, dining areas, and associate work areas. The fire alarm system is monitored by security 24 hours a day 7 days a week by an outside company. In the event of an emergency, the fire department will be notified immediately. If evacuation is necessary, please find the nearest emergency exit and leave the resort head out to the golf course. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE ESCALATORS OR ELEVATORS IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE. MEDICAL EMERGENCY Call “At Your Service” at extension (0) for any medical emergency. Security Officers will respond to provide basic first aid and contact the Tucson Fire Department Paramedics if necessary. The JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa does not carry or maintain Automatic External Defibrillators. We rely on local emergency medical professionals to assist individuals whose heart condition may require the use of an AED. We will provide you with third party information regarding on-site medical services at your expense. IN THE EVENT OF AN EVACUATION Remain in place, unless there is an immediate danger. Listen to audible messaging for further instructions. In case of evacuation, proceed to nearest stairwell and exit on ground level. Follow instructions posted on the inside of guestroom door. EVENT OF AN EVACUATION OR CRITICAL INCIDENT Gathering location is at the Rattler Golf Course (onsite), hole #9.
